Parent Education and Support Groups

Our parent ADHD support and education programs aim to provide parents with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to effectively manage their child's ADHD symptoms and promote their overall well-being. These programs offer a supportive environment where parents can connect with others experiencing similar challenges and learn from experts in the field.

The program consists of 90-minute sessions held over the span of four weeks, with a new topic each week. Parents can suggest topics for a session based on their interests, which may be used the following week. To conclude each session, there will be a group discussion and support session where we can assist each other through the challenges and celebrate successes. This is an excellent opportunity to share effective strategies or request help when needed.

Executive Function and Emotional Regulation

ADHD is widely believed to be caused by executive dysfunction that affects attention, impulse control, and planning. Emotional regulation and executive function are vital cognitive skills that regulate behaviour and emotions. It is essential to comprehend these aspects to develop practical support and management strategies for individuals who exhibit ADHD symptoms.

The Parent/Child Relationship

Parental education and understanding are crucial for managing ADHD. A strong relationship between parents and their children can significantly impact their child's self-esteem, academic success, and overall well-being. Week Three

Managing Day-to-day life

Parents who have children with ADHD often encounter difficulties in helping their kids manage various aspects of their lives, such as homework, chores, sleep, diet, medication, and hygiene. Since children with ADHD find it challenging to establish routines, it becomes crucial for parents to work collaboratively with them to develop strategies that promote good health and overall well-being. Parents can use these tools to ensure smoother, happier days for both themselves and their kids.

Week Four

Thriving at School

Parents play a vital role in supporting their children with ADHD as they navigate their school careers. Parents must understand their children's challenges, collaborate with educators, and provide customized support. By providing the appropriate tools, advocating for suitable accommodations, and fostering a supportive environment, parents can help alleviate their children's challenges and empower them to navigate academic demands and reach their full potential, academically and socially.
